This election has been temporarily suspended by order of the Alabama Supreme Court pending further review by that court and, until the Supreme Court resolves issues related to this election, is not included in the count of elections that apply towards the corporate contributions limits. UPDATE: This election has been cancelled by order of the Alabama Supreme Court, which has issued a decision that the Governor shall fill by appointment the vacancy in this seat.

*For the purpose of the corporate contribution limit to PACs, each of these special elections on January 25th counts separately toward the total number of elections to be held in 2005. See Attorney General Opinion1999-255
**Upon the conclusion of the House 46 special primary runoff election, the Secretary of State, pursuant toAmendment 97 of the Alabama Constitution of 1901, made a finding that a legally qualified candidate for election to the vacancy was unopposed. Therefore, under that amendment, the special general election was not to be held and the unopposed candidate was to be issued a certificate of election.
