MONTGOMERY - Alabama's 2016 Electoral College Event is scheduled to take place in the Capitol's Old House Chamber on December 19, 2016. The ceremony is open to the public and will begin at 12:00 p.m.
The Electoral College was established by our founding fathers to formally elect the President and Vice President of the United States after the close of the General Election. Governor Robert Bentley, Members of the Alabama Congressional Delegations, and Benjamin Franklin (portrayed by Dr. Richard Rhone) will deliver remarks before the votes are cast, and Auburn High School Band and Master Sergeant Donna Johnson will give special musical performances. Secretary John Merrill will serve as the Master of Ceremonies.
