Proposed Constitutional Amendments to Appear on Local Ballots Only November 7, 2000 General Election

Relating to Bullock County, proposing an amendment to the Constitution of Alabama of 1901, to eliminate the supernumerary system for certain future elected public officials and to allow them to participate in the Employees' Retirement System. (Proposed by Act No. 1999-191)

Relating to Bullock County, proposing an amendment to Amendment 414 of the Constitution of Alabama of 1901, to remove the prohibition of the Judge of Probate of Bullock County serving as the chair or a member of the county commission. (Proposed by Act No. 2000-411)

Relating to Calhoun County, proposing an amendment to the Constitution of Alabama of 1901, providing that the Water Works and Sewer Board of the City of Anniston, Alabama, shall have a board of directors consisting of seven members, providing for the method of appointment thereof and ratifying Act 95-497 enacted at the 1995 Regular Session of the Legislature of Alabama. Relating to Chambers County, proposing an amendment to the Constitution of Alabama of 1901, to authorize the Legislature to create a public corporation to assist or aid Chambers County or any municipality therein in promoting industry, trade, and economic development and to empower the public corporation as the Legislature deems necessary. Relating to Chilton County, proposing an amendment to the Constitution of Alabama of 1901, to authorize Chilton County and any municipality located therein to perform certain actions for the purpose of economic and industrial development. (Proposed by Act No. 2000-365)

Relating to Chilton County, proposing an amendment to the Constitution of Alabama of 1901, to levy and collect a special property tax on property outside the corporate limits of any incorporated municipality in Chilton County, and to use the proceeds from the tax to provide fire, medical, and emergency services to unincorporated areas of the county; and repealing Amendment No. 402 to the Constitution of Alabama of 1901, which levies a special property tax in Chilton County. Relating to Hale County, proposing an amendment to the Constitution of Alabama of 1901, to assess an additional fee on civil and criminal cases, with certain exceptions in Hale County with the proceeds to be used for planning, designing, constructing, financing, furnishing, equipping, and operating a new county jail and for general county purposes.
